I practice as a freelance artist and reside in Gorham, Maine. I graduated in 2021 from the University of Southern Maine with an undergraduate degree in Studio Art (concentrating in Painting/Drawing, Ceramics and Digital Art & Photography) and a minor in Art History.
I find myself drawn to the beauty of capturing personality through portraiture. There is so much to uncover in the process of painting the likenesses of individuals. Emotion can mirror the fluidity of paint and this concept really fascinates me.
I also find interest in capturing the majesty of nature and the freedom found in open spaces. Vibrant & rich colors found within nature influence my work. Being from Maine, coastal scenes are frequent throughout my work with lighthouses being a common motif I find myself going back to.
I value the tactility of paint and I strive to preserve that physicality. I want people to see my hand throughout my work – to be able to trace not just my brushstrokes, but my thought process as well. Some of my art history heroes include; John Singer Sargent, Claude Monet and Winslow Homer.
In tandem with painting, I love the process of photography and the impact it can have on creating paintings. The act of storytelling is prevalent in all the forms of art that I make.
